By Arbutus (Bell) Milholin
This quilt was pieced by Mrs. Byler before her eyes grew dim Each stitch a prayer of love and praise she pieced it “Unto Him”.
Blesses Assurance she softly sang with each stitch so fine and trim Each stitch was made with loving care she stitched it “Unto Him”.
The ladies tied each tie with love without a single whim Thanking God for sending you They tied it “Unto Him”
And as you snuggle warm and safe neath our quilt of hues think of Goodar and Curtisville folks Although so few May God send Blessings from above for your service “Unto Him”.
Our lives are like a patch work quilt of happiness and grim A patch of bright a patch of dark we must live it “Unto Him”.
P.S.
They rhyming poor The meter worse But there’s lotsa love in this little verse
Written in tribute to our African American pastor and family the day we presented them with a quilt. Reverend Herbert and Flo Griffin and their children: Herb Jr., Anthea, John, Jim, and Allen
